Dave Usher is Managing Director of Interaction of Bath and lead consultant.

He has been working in Human Factors since 1980, starting in the power generation industry with the revolutionary touch-sensitive control desk at Didcot Power Station, Oxfordshire. He has a very strong academic background, being both a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors and a chartered physicist. Safety case development is another key skill.

Dave founded the consultancy Interaction of Bath in 1991. It was incorporated as a limited company in October 1994 and admitted to the professional register of the CIEHF three years later.


In his role as Managing Director, Dave provides leadership and technical advice and ensures that all deliverables meet the company’s ISO9000 quality standards. Since then, the company has been involved in the design and assessment of a large variety of human-machine systems, across sectors including defence, rail and the criminal law. 

Hal Wilson is a freelance video editor, analyst and 3D designer. He is proficient in technology and many software packages.

Hal uses his digital skills to find new approaches to Human Factors assessment and analysis. He has also used this expertise to create innovation in other areas such as natural science research and data gathering.


We are strongly influenced by the design of the equipment we use. But we must also consider the influence of the organisational structures and the culture of the wider society.  Human Factors embraces all these issues.

Irina Marsh (née Stanciugelu) is our expert on ethics and corporate governance.  With a PhD in Philosophy (Ethics), she is Associate Professor at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration, Bucharest, and Visiting academic at Middlesex University, London.  Irina is an established expert in applied ethics, crisis management and public relations

Chair of NATO Ad-hoc Working Group on Public Information Policy. 

She is also the co-author of Interaction's Ethical Risk Assessment tool, which provides users with a quick assessment of the risk posed by ethical choices and systems.
